Omkara, starring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and Vivek Oberoi, is a crime-romantic movie, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj received the award for Best Artistic Contribution with this movie. The movie received several awards at Asian Festival of First Films, the National Film Awards, and the Filmfare Awards. It has been adapted from the play titled Othello, written by Shakespeare. Omkara is a movie about a group of gangsters involved into political disturbances, while the leader of the group abducts a girl that plays a major role in the story, leading to major ups and downs.

Omkara aka Omi, played by Ajay Devgn, is a political enforcer, who is involved into various violent actions happening in the town. He has Langda, played by Saif Ali Khan, and Kesu, played by Vivek Oberoi as his supporters. The movie starts when Omkara rushes into a wedding and abducts the bride. Enraged, the father of the bride commands Omkara to return his daughter, but after presenting the daughter, Dolly, played by Kareena Kapoor, she confesses her love for Omkara, and that the decision of her coming along with him was not under any force. The father feels cheated and hurt, and leaves. While leaving, he warns Omkara to not trust the girl who cheated her own father. At first, Omkara doesn't pay any heed to this, but it later proves to sow seeds of doubt between Omkara and Dolly.

In the ensuing series of events, Omkara plans to replace Langda with Kesu to be his next successor. An angry Langda decides to take revenge, and starts feeding Omkara with suspicions against his wife, Dolly. Action sequences, love, deception, and infidelity make up the major themes of this movie.

Omkara was released by Shemaroo in 2006 in DVD format, with a U rating. The movie has a run time of 155 minutes.
